Explore the tactile, meditative world of analog photography in Portable Lab, Timeless Practice, a full-day workshop by Film Photography Club Bali as part of FOTO Bali Festival 2025. This immersive session invites you into a live, on-site portable darkroom experience—designed to introduce or reconnect participants with the fundamental processes behind traditional film photography.
Throughout the day, you’ll learn the basics of analog photography: how to shoot on film, process your own negatives, and understand the entire photographic cycle from exposure to development. Led by experienced practitioners from Film Photography Club Bali, including founder Jordy Wahyudiningrat, this hands-on workshop is rooted in community, curiosity, and care.
Unlike digital photography, analog practices ask us to slow down and be present—each frame considered, every step intentional. This workshop creates space to engage with photography as both craft and ritual. By bringing the darkroom into a public setting, it demystifies the process while highlighting the sensory richness of working with film, chemistry, and light.
Participants will leave with a developed roll of film, new skills, and a deeper appreciation for the time-honored processes behind the images we often take for granted. All materials are provided; no prior darkroom experience is necessary.
